High School Youth Programs

HTA High School

HTA High School program are for kids ages 15-18 years old

2023 SUMMER High School tennis camp (ages 15 to 18)

HTA is pleased to offer our community an enhanced level of tennis training. We have partnered with SOAR Tennis Academy to run our 2023 Spring, Summer and Fall tennis camps. SOAR was founded by Matt Swigart, a USPTA certified teaching pro and has been the University of Northwestern - St. Paul head men's and women's tennis coach since 2013 and has become UNW's all-time winningest coach. Matt and his coaching staff are excited to work with HTA and its members.

We will be structuring our High School aged drills with an eye on helping each player develop and improve to where they have the best chance at being successful at the High School Varsity level. We will right-size our drills for each player as they work with groups of players at their level. Whether you are a beginning wanting to pick up tennis as a high school sport, someone on JV who wants to earn a spot on Varsity, or a returning varsity starter looking to take their game to the next level, we will give you the tools and the time to work towards making that happen! Coach Matt and his team of coaches will use what they have used in building UNW Tennis into a solid and successful program over his 10 seasons. The interesting thing that many high school players learn in the transition from high school to college tennis is that it is actually more about doing the simple things with greater consistency and excellence, rather than trying to hit the ball harder or more big winners. This simple approach will help high school players at any level get an advantage over their opponents! We'll see you on the court!

The SUMMER camps are divided up into 5 separate sessions. All sessions will take place at the Hudson High School tennis courts.

Sessions will be as follows: Click the blue highlighted week you wish to sign up for.

MESSAGE FROM THE COACH

  • My name is Nick DeMoulin and I’ll be taking over for John Dahl as the head tennis coach.  I was coach Dahl’s assistant last year and look forward to continuing the work we began to continue building a tennis program that not only is competitive on the courts, but helps the athletes develop mental toughness and a positive attitude that transitions from the court to everyday life.
  • We will have a parent/athlete meeting on Monday March 20th so I can formally introduce myself and reintroduce my assistant, Quinn Zacharais.  Quinn is a Hudson Tennis Alum as a state qualifier as well as a returning assistant to the program.   We encourage everyone to attend even if you were a part of the tennis program last year.  We would like to articulate our message for our vision and goals to anyone who wants to be a part of Hudson Tennis.
  • Tryouts will begin Monday, March 27th at the Hudson High School tennis courts and finish Thursday March 30th. Teams will be announced at the end of the week. Teams will be selected first are the top 16 spots. Next is the 16 spots for Junior Varsity and the remaining players on the JV 2 squad. Tryouts will consist of hitting drills and matches to assess the level of skill each player has. ALL paperwork must be completed to participate in tryouts!
